Choosing a Side Loader
Side loaders carry long loads such as timber, steel and pipe alongside the machine rather than out in front, so they travel down aisles that a counterbalance forklift carrying the same load could never turn into. Our models cover roughly 3 tonne to 6 tonne.
The load length and the aisle width are the two numbers that decide the machine. Also confirm the surface: many side loaders run on solid or cushion tyres suited to sealed yards and indoor floors, and long loads make surface irregularities much more noticeable.
Before you choose, check:
- Maximum load length and how it sits on the deck
- Aisle width along the full travel route
- Deck size and load restraint for the products you carry
- Surface condition, since long loads amplify every bump
