Boom lifts for sale: articulated or telescopic

A boom lift carries a basket on a hydraulic arm, so it reaches up and out to work above machinery, over a roof edge or along a building facade. DJJ Equipment sells Hangcha articulated and telescopic boom lifts in electric and diesel, with working heights from 11.95 m to 63 m and basket capacities from 200 kg to 480 kg.

Our boom lifts

  • Electric articulated: the Hangcha Articulated Boom Lift covers 11.95 m to 20.8 m working height with 200-350 kg in the basket.
  • Diesel articulated: the Hangcha Diesel Articulated Boom Lift runs from the HZ140H at 14.8 m to models reaching 56.86 m, with up to 25 m of outreach, 230-480 kg in the basket and gradeability of up to 40%.
  • Electric telescopic: the HB Series Telescopic Boom Lift reaches 23.4 m to 28 m working height with up to 22.75 m of horizontal reach, carrying 460 kg in restricted mode or 310 kg unrestricted.
  • Diesel telescopic: the HB Series Telescopic Boom Lift Diesel covers 16 m to 63 m working height with up to 26 m of outreach and 230-480 kg in the basket.

Articulated or telescopic?

An articulated boom bends at one or more joints, so the basket can go up, over an obstacle such as a roof edge, pipework or plant, and down the other side. A telescopic boom extends in a straight line, which gives the most height and the longest reach from one position, for facades, steel structures and large outdoor sites. The two larger HB electric models add a 135 degree jib for fine positioning at the end of the boom.

Electric booms suit warehouses, factories and other sites where exhaust and noise are a problem. Diesel booms suit building sites, rough ground and long days away from a charger.

How to choose a boom lift

Choose by working height and outreach together. A boom that reaches 20 m straight up may only reach a few metres out at that height, so check the working envelope chart for the position you need, not just the headline figures.

Basket capacity covers people, tools and materials together, and on the HB electric models it changes with the working mode. Check the ground and slopes where the machine will travel and set up, and the space you need around it.

Boom lift or scissor lift?

A boom basket carries less than a scissor deck but reaches places a scissor lift cannot. If the work sits directly overhead and you need more people or materials up there, a scissor lift with its bigger deck is usually the better choice.

Licence for boom lifts

In NSW, Queensland and WA, a boom-type elevating work platform with a boom length of 11 metres or more needs a high risk work licence, class WP. Boom length is the platform floor height at full extension or the outreach, whichever is greater, not the quoted working height. Every boom lift in our range needs a WP licence except the GTHZ120, whose 9.95 m platform height and 7 m outreach keep it under 11 m. Operators of that model still need training.

Warranty and support

Most of our boom lifts show a 12 month or 2,000 hour warranty on the product page; for the HB electric telescopic model, confirm the warranty in writing with your quote. Every machine we sell gets a pre-delivery inspection before it leaves us. The boom lifts here are listed for sale, so ask our team about availability if you need one for a short project, and about transport options to your site. Servicing, repairs and parts come from our branches in Silverwater, Meadowbrook and Bayswater, with on-site service within 50 km of each branch.

Before you choose, check:

  • Working height and the outreach you need at that height
  • Obstacles to reach over or around
  • Weight of people, tools and materials in the basket
  • Indoor or outdoor work, ground and slopes
  • Whether your operators hold a WP licence

Tell us the height, the reach and the site, and our team will recommend a boom lift. Call 1800 355 388 or send an enquiry.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before you speak with the team.

How high do the boom lifts in the DJJ range reach?

Working heights run from 11.95 m on the smallest electric articulated boom lift (GTHZ120) and up to 28 m on the electric HB telescopic boom, to 56.86 m and 63 m on the diesel articulated and diesel telescopic models. Basket capacities range from 200 kg to 480 kg depending on the model.

Should I choose a boom lift or a scissor lift?

A boom lift basket in this range carries up to 480 kg, while the scissor lifts carry up to 1,150 kg on a larger deck but only go straight up. If the work sits directly overhead and you need more people or materials on the platform, a scissor lift is usually the better fit.

Do boom lift operators need a high risk work licence?

Yes, for every boom lift in our range except the GTHZ120. A class WP high risk work licence is needed when the boom length is 11 metres or more, measured as the platform floor height at full extension or the outreach, whichever is greater. The GTHZ120 has a 9.95 m platform height and 7 m outreach, so its boom length is under 11 m: no licence is needed, but your business must still train operators. The licence is issued by SafeWork NSW, WorkSafe Queensland or WorkSafe WA, and operators should also be trained on the specific machine and its controls.

Can I hire a boom lift instead of buying one?

The boom lifts on this page are sale listings. If you need one for a single project or a short period, ask the DJJ team about availability at your nearest branch in Sydney, Brisbane or Perth.

What warranty comes with a Hangcha boom lift?

The articulated boom lifts and the HB diesel telescopic boom lift show 12 months / 2,000 hours on the product page. For the HB electric telescopic model, confirm the warranty in writing with your quote.

Should I buy an articulated or a telescopic boom lift?

Choose an articulated boom when you need to reach up and over obstacles such as roof edges, pipework or plant, because the arm bends. Choose a telescopic boom when you need the most height and straight-line outreach, for facades, steel erection or signage. DJJ's range covers both, from the 20.8 m electric articulated boom to the 63 m diesel telescopic, so tell us the height, outreach and ground and we will quote the right model.
