Turret and VNA trucks for sale: man-down or man-up
A turret truck, also called a very narrow aisle or VNA truck, turns its forks instead of the whole machine, so it can put pallets away on either side of an aisle only slightly wider than the truck. That lets a warehouse fit more racking into the same floor space. DJJ Equipment sells three Hangcha VNA trucks from 1 to 1.6 tonnes, in man-down and man-up layouts.
Our turret and VNA trucks
- A Series Turret Truck 1-1.5 t: a stand-on, man-down truck on a 48V lithium battery, carrying 1,000-1,500 kg in aisles from 1,550 mm, with a 7.5 m triplex mast option.
- A Series Turret Truck 1.2 t: a seated, man-down truck carrying 1,200 kg in a 1,750 mm aisle, with masts up to 10 m and rail, wire or magnetic stripe guidance.
- X Series Man-Up Tri-Lateral Stacker 1-1.6 t: the operator rides up in a cabin with the forks, which reach 1,300 mm sideways and rotate, with total fork heights of 10.2 m and 14.7 m.
Man-down or man-up?
On a man-down turret truck the operator stays at floor level and the forks rise alone. It suits full-pallet storage in very narrow aisles up to about 7.5 to 10 m. On a man-up tri-lateral stacker the operator rises with the load, which gives a clear view at the top beam and reaches the greatest heights. Man-up trucks are larger, heavier machines and their aisle width is set for each project.
Height, capacity and aisles
Capacity falls as the forks rise, so check the load at your top beam, not the nameplate. The A Series 1.2 t carries 800 kg at 9 m on a duplex mast and 650 kg at 10 m on a triplex, the A Series 1-1.5 t carries 800-1,050 kg at 7.5 m, and the tri-lateral stacker carries 500 kg at the top on the 1-1.2 t models. Aisle widths depend on pallet size: the 1,550 mm figure on the 1 t man-down truck is for 1100 by 1100 mm pallets.
VNA trucks need flat, level floors and a guidance system in the aisle, by rail, wire or magnetic stripe, plus a wider transfer aisle at the end of each run: 3,800 mm on the seated A Series 1.2 t. Plan the floor and guidance with the racking, not after it.
VNA truck or reach truck?
A VNA truck stores more pallets per square metre but needs guided aisles and transfer space. If your racking is lower and the aisles are not guided, a reach truck is the simpler and more flexible machine.
Licence, warranty and support
A man-down turret truck is a forklift truck, so operators need a High Risk Work Licence in class LF. On a man-up truck the operator's controls rise with the load, so the licence is class LO. The two A Series turret trucks show a 24 month or 2,000 hour warranty on the product page; for the tri-lateral stacker, confirm the warranty in writing with your quote. Every machine we sell gets a pre-delivery inspection before it leaves us, and servicing, repairs and parts come from our branches in Silverwater, Meadowbrook and Bayswater, with on-site service within 50 km of each branch.
Before you choose, check:
- Top beam height and the load at that height
- Pallet size and the aisle width it needs
- Floor flatness and the guidance system
- Transfer aisle space at the ends of each run
- Man-down or man-up, and the licence it needs
Send us your racking drawings, pallet sizes and top beam height, and our team will recommend a VNA truck. Call 1800 355 388 or send an enquiry.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers before you speak with the team.
What licence does a man-up turret truck operator need?
On a man-up turret truck the operator's controls rise with the load, so it is an order-picking forklift truck and the operator needs a High Risk Work Licence class LO, not LF. Training is through a Registered Training Organisation; confirm current requirements with your state regulator.
How narrow can the aisles be for a VNA truck?
The A Series man-down turret trucks work in aisles from 1,550 mm with 1100 by 1100 mm pallets on the 1 t model, up to 1,750 mm on the seated 1.2 t. For the X Series man-up tri-lateral stacker, minimum aisle width is project-specific. It depends on pallet size, racking layout and aisle guidance, so send us your racking drawings and pallet details and our team can review them before recommending a configuration.
How high does the VNA truck lift, and at what capacity?
The X Series man-up tri-lateral stacker is rated 1-1.6 t with lift heights up to 14.7 m. Capacity at full height is lower than the nameplate rating, so check the load chart against your top beam and heaviest pallet before ordering.
Should I choose a reach truck or a VNA turret truck?
A reach truck moves its forks forward and works in narrow aisles with lifts up to 13 m on the models DJJ lists, and its operator needs an LF licence. A man-up turret truck works in tighter guided aisles, lifts higher and needs an LO licence. If your racking is under 13 m and the aisles are not guided, a reach truck is the simpler choice.
Can a VNA truck be hired for a short project?
DJJ lists this VNA truck for sale. Ask the team about hire availability, and include your racking layout and floor details so we can check whether the truck suits your site.
What warranty and service support comes with the VNA truck?
The two A Series man-down turret trucks show 24 months or 2,000 hours warranty on the product page; for the X Series man-up tri-lateral stacker, confirm the warranty in writing with your quote. DJJ's service team supports it from workshops in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth, and the after-sales line is 1300 646 747.
