Order pickers for sale: choosing by picking height
An order picker lifts the operator with the platform, so cartons, parts and single items can be picked by hand straight from the racking instead of bringing down a whole pallet. DJJ Equipment sells Hangcha order pickers from 0.5 to 2.5 tonnes, from low level models that work near the floor to high level machines with forks that rise to 9.5 m. The right one depends mainly on how high your pick faces are and how wide your aisles are.
Our order pickers by picking height
Low level, 2.5 tonnes. For long pick runs at floor level. The A Series Order Picker 2.5 t has a 24V lead-acid or lithium battery and travels at up to 10 km/h unladen. The X Series Low-Level Order Picker 2.5 t runs on 48V lithium and comes with a fixed platform or a lifting platform that raises the operator to a standing height of 1.03 m.
Stock pickers, 0.5 tonnes. Compact pickers for cartons and small parts in aisles from 2,040 mm. The A Series Order Picker 0.5 t has a platform that rises to 3.7 m, and the A Series Stock Picker 0.5 t reaches 4 m on a 25.76V lithium battery. Both split the 500 kg rating between a front tray, the operator and a rear tray.
Medium level, 1 tonne. The A Series Order Picker 1 t lifts to 4.5 m, works in aisles from 3,235 mm and is offered with a 24V lead-acid or lithium battery.
High level, 1.2 to 1.3 tonnes. For picking from high racking in narrow aisles. The A Series Order Picker 1.2 t and the A Series High-Level Order Picker 1.2 t both have forks that rise to 9.5 m on a 48V lead-acid or lithium battery, with an aisle width from 3,535 mm. The narrow aisle A Series High-Level Order Picker 1.3 t runs on 36V lithium with forks up to 6.1 m.
How to choose an order picker
Start with your highest pick face. The fork or platform height in the specifications is not the height the operator can reach, because the operator stands on the platform and reaches above it. Check both figures on the product page against your top beam. Then measure the narrowest point between the racking and compare it with the minimum aisle width of the model.
On the 0.5 tonne stock pickers the rating is split between the trays and the operator platform, so plan each pick run within the limit for each tray rather than the total. On the larger models, check the rated capacity against your heaviest pick plus any pallet or cage on the forks.
Operators and safety
Plan for the people as well as the machine. Order pickers where the operator's controls rise with the load need a High Risk Work Licence in class LO, separate from the LF forklift class, and operators on high level pickers need fall restraint as set by the manufacturer and your site rules.

What licence do I need to operate an order picker?
Order pickers where the operator's controls rise with the load need a High Risk Work Licence in class LO, which is separate from the LF class for forklift trucks. Training is through a Registered Training Organisation and the licence is issued by the regulator, such as SafeWork NSW, WorkSafe Queensland, WorkSafe WA.
Does a low level order picker still need a licence?
It depends on the machine. The forklift truck definition covers forks or arms that can be raised 900 mm or more, so a low level picker that only lifts slightly may fall outside it. Confirm the specific model with your state regulator, and remember operators still need training either way.
How is an order picker different from a reach truck?
A reach truck keeps the operator at floor level and moves whole pallets into high racking, while an order picker lifts the operator with the platform so items can be picked by hand. That also changes the licence, LF for reach trucks and LO for order pickers.
Which battery options are available on Hangcha order pickers?
