Do I need a licence to operate a scissor lift?
No high risk work licence is needed for a scissor lift. The licence class for elevating work platforms covers only boom-type machines with a boom length of 11 metres or more. Your business must still make sure operators have suitable training, information and instruction for the machine and the work at height, so confirm current requirements with SafeWork NSW, WorkSafe Queensland or WorkSafe WA.
How much weight can a scissor lift platform carry?
Platform capacity in this range runs from 113 kg on the smallest XEN model up to 1,150 kg on the HS rough terrain diesel model. That figure covers people, tools and materials together, so check the model's specification table against the crew and load you plan to take up.
What working heights do these scissor lifts reach?
Working heights reach 13.8 m on the HS crawler model, 15.7 m on the electric HS E-Drive and up to 18.2 m on the HS rough terrain models. Match the working height to the task, then confirm platform capacity and size for the people and materials you need up there.
