Choosing a Cushion Tyre Forklift
Cushion tyre forklifts run on solid rubber tyres pressed onto the rim, giving a lower profile and tighter turning circle than pneumatic machines. They suit smooth concrete indoors and are common in dock and container work where the extra height of a pneumatic tyre gets in the way. Our range covers roughly 3,000 lb to 15,500 lb.
The limit is surface. Cushion tyres transmit every joint and pothole to the machine and operator, and they lose grip on loose or wet outdoor ground. If any part of the route runs across gravel or a broken yard, look at pneumatic tyres instead.
Before you choose, check:
- Floor condition along the whole route, including joints and ramps
- Overall height if the machine enters containers or trailers
- Turning circle against your tightest corner
- Load centre used for the rated capacity
- Indoor emissions rules if you are comparing electric and LPG
