Choosing Between the U18 and Other Excavators
The U18 is a 1.88-tonne excavator with a 14.5 kW Yanmar 3TNV76 engine, a telescopic undercarriage that widens from 1,080 mm to 1,400 mm and a boom that swings 70ยฐ left and 60ยฐ right for working in tight spots.
- Working range: 2,295 mm digging depth, 4,125 mm reach and 3,620 mm digging height, with 15.5 kN bucket digging force and a 0.05 mยณ bucket.
- Against the YC10: nearly twice the weight and power, with 860 mm more digging depth and 1,280 mm more reach, while still fitting narrow passageways with the tracks retracted.
- Against the YC60: the YC60 is a 5.7-tonne excavator with a Kubota engine, an enclosed cab, 3,720 mm digging depth and a mechanical quick hitch with three buckets.
The canopy is ROPS and FOPS certified, with pilot controls, two travel speeds and a half hitch for attachments, and the blade extends from 1,080 mm to 1,400 mm. For bigger jobs, see the YC60 excavator.
